Recycled soap dispenser

So i have been seeing these cute soap dispensers made out of jars everywhere. And wanted to make some of my own.
I was planning on making them out of the jars below.
But when i realized that the jar below (that was sitting on my window sill, pictured above) and the whatchamacallit on the right (i bought months ago at the thrift store to make a soap dispenser) FIT TOGETHER PERFECTLY!
So crazy... and perfect. i just poured the soap i already had into the jar and popped the whatchamacallit on top. It was just tight enough to not fall off when tipped upside down and not too tight that i couldn't get it off.
Then my husband drilled a hole in the top of one of my extra mason jars and i put the white watchamacallit (that came in the green disposable soap above) on the top of the mason jar.
and WA LA! My dish soap and hand soap beautifully displayed in cute jars for free!
I'm thinking about putting a black chalk board paint label on them but we'll see how it goes.

White Waxflower/Frame makeover

I found a new favorite blog and wanted to share it with you. Mary Grace over at White Waxflower is such an inspiration to me. I love how she just throws stuff together and makes it look so interesting.
She has some really cool tutorials.
I love her anthropologie inspired bedroom! I WILL be doing something like this in my room!

 She dresses super cute!

And she makes really cute videos with her dog Jemima.
How has she inspired me?
I  made this frame.

I found the frame on black friday for $2.48 at the thrift store. I spray painted it Caramel Latte by Krylon. When i was taking the glass out i broke it so i wrapped the picture that was in the frame in burlap, and taped some random things i had laying around the house to it. The map was the front of a journal i had, and the green heart is and earring that my friend Ashley gave me, but i lost the other one :(
I also jazzed up my shelf in the bathroom.
here is the before
And after
I shopped my house to get the "thrown together" look.
From left to right.
Basket Walmart $2
Books $1.50 (I bought a buggie full of those books for $1.50 i have used them all over the house!)
Candle holder thrift store $1.50
candle on top of white candle holder $1 walmart, wrapped in hemp
White Candle with black lid-From great friends in Colorado
Jar free from my friend Allison, she got them out of a guys trash :)
Painting by my sister, she is awesome
Lantern-Pottery barn sale $12.50 (I had a giftcard)
Brown beaded candle holder inside PT lantern-Homegoods, came in a pack of three i got them  half off after Christmas last year for $3

So if you haven't already go check out her blog!

Simple Fall Tablescape

Continuing with my theme of free/cheap fall decor. I put together a VERY simple fall table. I had everything except the pumpkins which only cost me $1.50 total.
They tray was from our wedding my very talented friend Linds made it for us. The table runner i think was on clearance at Pottery Barn? My mom gave it to me.
The Leaf bowl was the only fall decoration i bought last year. My mom got if for me at Khols and i had candle in it last year. I put some pinecones in it that i also bought last year. Why would i buy pinecones when they are free outside and you are all about free? you ask? Well last year one weekend while the hubs and i were climbing i decided to collect acorns. They were so pretty and i imagined filling vases with them. Well when i went back to them about a week later they had maggots in them. SICK! it was so gross i later found out you are supposed to freeze them to kill the little guys inside. anyway i'm not tryin that anymore i'll wait until they go 75% off after the holiday.
The blue ball mason jar i got at the endless yard sale for $2 and the candles inside it were $2 on clearance at tjmaxx or marshalls a few years ago.
I know it's super simple but that is how i have been feeling lately, i have been getting rid of EVERYTHING we do not use. And it feels so good! I have had so much fun decorating for fall with things around the house, hopefully i can do the same for Christmas.

Recycled Table

I have been looking for one of these tables for a while, i love the bone structure and double shelves. I found this one at the Goodwill back home for $15. I saw it and passed it by, but when i got back to Chatty i couldn't stop thinking about it. So my sweet mother picked it up for me. I used Stain and paint that i already had so this project only cost me as much as the table.
Here is the before and after pic.
Hubs sanded it down for me.

I painted it with the light blue (Mountain Air-Sherwin Williams) leftover from out kitchen ceiling and laundry room.
After it dried i painted it with the dark turqouise from our kitchen. I wasn't being to picky with my painting cause i wanted a little of the light blue to show through and i knew i was going to sand it down.
Then i took the electric sander to it and sanded the whole thing down.
Finally i stained it (with some stain the hubs had leftover from a job) and wiped it off.
This is what it looked like when i wiped the stain off.
and the after...

I love how it turned out. I have never tried finishing a piece off with stain but it deepens the color and makes it look so much richer!

Not so free project #3

So this project isn't exactly FREE but it's close!! i splurged a little on the knobs cause everything else was free and the knobs match SO WELL!
Remember free project #1? Well i made this coat rack for our stairway out of that same pallet. My sweet hubs sawed, by hand may i add, half the pallet off, and the top off the pallet off. Then he cut the boards on the top and bottom to fit and hammered them on. Then he drilled the holes for my class blue and green knobs.
Here it is without the coats.
Remember the glass insulator i got at the garage sale for $2, i added it to my green and blue decor.
And all those bottles you see are from my friend Allison who spotted them in a guys trash! He had crates of old bottles that he was throwing away. So she scooped them up asked him if she could have them. He said "Sure! and i have more in my garage if you'd like those too!" You know she jumped at that opportunity then she kindly shared with me :)

and here it is in full use!
The glass knobs were $5 each. I know i usually would NEVER pay that much, especially without a coupon, but that is all i had to spend and they went so perfectly with the blue in the wood.
So the total for this project was $15!

Finally a piece of furniture I don't want to paint!

That table that i found at the Garage Sale, it's now a side table to our new couches in the Living Room. It was supposed to go in the guest room as a bedside table. But it was a little small so we moved a few things around. The little table from the EYS is now on our porch off our bedroom, which was in much need of some furniture! Anyway back to the table, it's perfect as a side table and the wood is perfect in our Cabin.

I'm still working on making those gas cans into a light so for now they are just chillin on the floor.
BTW that orange candle on the table is from Walmart. It's called Mulled Spice and it is the best smelling candle i have ever had. It smells just like FALL! They sell little ones for $1 so you can get one and just try it out to make sure you like it. But i know you will :)

Leaf Banner Tutorial

Hey guys i'm back with some more free decorations! This is the window before.
Sorry this pic is so blurry.
I got these leaves when hubs and i went hikng a few weeks ago. i stuck them in a book to flatten them out.
We went hiking up lookout point and had a beautiful view of Chatty!
I measured how long i wanted my banner to be. Then i laid my leaves out and put the ribbon on top of them. You could also use, hemp, string, or yarn.
I duct taped the leaves to the ribbon.
To attach it to the window i just rolled the duct tape to make it sticky on both sides.
There you go a free, recycled, fall banner!

I also used the white pillar i got at the thrift store last week on the mantle, holding the fabric pumpkin.
