EYS Table Before and After

Remember this little table i got at the EYS for $5?
Well i had been wanting to paint the bottom of it for a while and i finally got around to it this weekend.
All i used was a sanding brush and some Krylon spray paint that i had left over from the lamp project and the mirror project. I used the color Bahama Sea.

I lightly sanded down the bottom, metal part of the table. I still wanted it to have a worn look so i didn't sand too much.

Then i flipped it over and sprayed it again

Walah!

See these cute little fabric pumpins...

I've been working on them all day, stay tuned for a tutorial on how you can make them yourself or if you don't want to make them they will be in the shop hopefully soon!

Husband's Birthday

This weekend we celebrate Robby's bday at the Gambrell Cabin. It was so fun we had the whole family up and just relaxed, ate amazing cookie cake and espresso cheesecake, and played cards. The weather was perfect, it's starting to fell like fall, my FAVORITE season!

On Saturday we went climbing and hiking, to a pool party with our lifegroup, and came home to get ready for our guests. Nothing will get you motivated to get stuff done around the house, like having people to your house for the first time. I love it. I felt so accomplished this weekend! The fam came up Sunday after church and stayed through Monday.
I didn't take any pics this weekend :( i've got to get better at that, but i took pics of the house for the blog. Here is what we got done.

First, we got our family pictures up, i have been collecting frames, pictures, and other random stuff to put on the wall, for what seems like FOR-E-VER.
The window in the middle was from the EYS  i hammered the glass out, painted it black, and stapled hemp to the back of it so i could tape pictures to the front.
Here is the before picture of the window.

I also made some pillows  that match the curtains in our living room. I made them out of napkins, and the curtains are table cloths, both from world market. My mom had given me some pillow forms so i just made some slipcovers.

My boss gave me the trunk at the end of my bed, it is so cool, and the perfect size for the foot of our bed, although we may use it as a coffee table in the living room once we get a new addition that i can't mention yet :)
I love it!! Thank you SO much Cindy!!

This G pillow i made out of buttons and some left over linen fabric i had from a bulletin board i made, i'll post about it later. My friend Linds made a super cute one with an L on it that she took the time to sew all the buttons on, but i just hot glued mine cause it was midnight when i decided to make it, and i was so exhausted. But it looks so cute on our bed.
I also finished about a third of my second unit of school, i'll hopefully have unit two finished in a few weeks!
We did a little switcheroo with the metal shelf that was in the craft room we thought it would go much better in the shed holding Rob's gear. So we bought two white bookshelves from target for $30 each and put all my craft stuff and our office stuff on it, since we moved the desk out of the office in this post.

I never did a post on this dresser because i couldn't find a before pic but it was just a wood dresser i found at America's Thrift for $15. It had 8 drawers but the second two were not part of the original dresser so i took them out and painted them white as well and put green knobs on them and they are under our bed storing linens, i plan to put rollers on them eventually.
Since i took the drawers out i had an opening i wanted to put baskets in but i was always to cheap to buy baskets, but i broke down and bought them this weekend for 40% off. So both baskets were about $30. I think the whole dresser revamp cost me about $85 pretty cheap for a dresser!

It felt so good getting so much done this weekend! I finished up all the little projects i had been wanting to get to for so long!

Endless Yard Sale-Stories...

The Endless Yard Sale, or EYS... I am already saving and counting down the days until next year..
Remember what i found on day 1?
Here is a little recap.
The table was $5
Set of 8 pyrex bowls $2.75
Suitcase $1.25
basket $1
Lantern .50 cents

And day 2...

Here is day two... this is mine and Linds stuff combined

This milk crate may be my favorite find, only becuase, i went to about 3 or 4 vendors asking about them and everyone was selling them for $35 or $40 bucks, hecks no i wasn't about to spend that much! you know how cheap i am! Well the last place we stopped at, the same place we found the ladder, had this crate and the guy sold it to me for $5! now were talkin!
So this lovely hold some of my vinyl records... love it!

Look at all them dirty jars!!

This ladder is a fun story.. So our car was PACKED TO THE BRIM!! cause we hit the mother load and we drive by a yard sale when linds yell, O MY GOODNESS GO BACK THEY HAD A LADDER!!!! so we turn around and this ladder is HUGE!!!! we were both like yeah we want it but where in the world will we put it, it was probably twice the length of my car... so the guy offers to cut it in half... brilliant. So he cuts it and ties it onto the top of my car and we each paid $7.50. SCORE!! we have both been looking for one of these for a while now and Linds saw one in an antique store for $40. So we thought we got a pretty good deal.

This is just it's temporary home. I'll do another post when i move it to it's permanent residence.
It's perfect for holding our blankets
I forgot to mention these lovelies i found, this blue mason jar full of buttons was $12 but i talked her down to $10 i probably could have gone a little cheaper but i didn't want to push it. This was a steal.
This i got for free. the guy probably thought i was crazy. It's some sort of corn thing for a barn. The farmer that gave it to me explained it to me but i was real good at acting like i knew exactly what he was talkin about... i had no idea. But i thought it was cool so i'm gonna fix it however it fits together.

This window i got from the same farmer as the corn thingy (he also gave us some horse shoes for freezle). I paid $5 bucks for it which is pretty good, but this was before we went to that guys house to get the free windows! but i love this one, i'm going to use it on our family wall in the guest room. My plan is to take out the glass and put chicken wire and maybe some fabric behind it and hang pictures on it.
I got this jar with the button flowers in it for $2. Linds and i each got one and her's was only $1 and looked slightly different but i already had one like the jar she was getting. So when he told me the price i said why is her's cheaper than this one. The guy in the booth next to him said, "cause it's a $20 jar..." alright.. alright.. i'll pay $2 bucks for it... i told you i was cheap :)
And here is the lantern i cleaned up and threw a candle in. With the beautiful pic of my sister and niece in the background. Love that pic!!

Director Chairs from the EYS

In this post I showed you these fabulous directors chairs i scored for $2.50 each.  All i needed was the covers. I checked World Market, they were out, so i called pier one and asked if they had any in stock. They did and they were between $8 and $20 bucks.
Last weekend i was in Lowes looking for clearance paint and guess what i happened to stumble upon in the clearance shelves they have near the check out counters.....

Director chairs covers!  And guess how much the cost....

.50 cent EACH!!! No Way!! I couldn't believe it! So i bought 2 of every color they had, just in case they got dirty or i decided to get crafty on some of em :)

Here they are in the guest room

and a close up...

This is what the hubs does while i'm blogging...

they love each other.

Endless Yard Sale-Day 2

I  LOVE thrift shopping!  My friend Linds and i, she is featured in this post, tried to find more sales at the EYS. We decided to go to Signal Mtn again and at first we stopped by the first sale i had been to the day before. Well we stopped to get some cash at a gas station and the attendant told us that if we drove a little further up the road we would find a lot of vendors. Boy was he right!! So we started our journey and when i spotted the first group of sales i literally yelled "O MY GOODNESS WE'VE HIT THE MOTHERLOAD!!" I was so so so excited i can't even tell you, Lame, with a capital L, i know... but what i saw was exactly what i had been seeing in all the videos i watched about the EYS. Again, lame i watched videos about it....

Anyway we drove for miles and there were multiple vendors on both sides of the road we didn't know where to stop, we even passed some and planned on going back later but we ran out of time, and car space. When we arrived home 9 hours later, yes that's longer than most of you sleep, we had a car load of stuff, we literally could not fit one more thing in there!
Here is a pic of the car Day 2...

And with the ladders off and the door open!

This may look like just a bunch of junk.. but Linds and i hit jackpot! I pretty much just bought a bunch of old crates and mason jars.
The Ladder was double that size the man offered to cut it in half for us because we both really wanted a ladder and as long as it was it wouldn't have fit on the car. The ladder was $15 but when he cut it, it was only $7.50 each. SCORE!

The windows we got for free. We met a guy at one of the tents and when we mentioned we were looking for windows he said he had a bunch at his house and that we could come by and pick them up. I know kinda sketch right, but don't worry we were safe about it.

Check out Linds blog to see what she got!
I will try to remember everything i got that day...

Ladder-$7.50
Yellow Coca Cola crate-$4
Happy Farms milk just crate- $5
Horseshoes-FREE

Check back to see where i put all this "junk" :) and i made something super cute out of the windows!
