Saving and Organizing, and it feels so good!

I come to you with very good news tonight!! So if you remember one of my new years resolutions was to pay off my student loans. Well with the help of my amazing husband we have paid off one of my Student Loans which means we only have one more loan to pay off. We had been paying half of our mortgage towards this loan every month so now we can put that money into savings.
It's such an amazing feeling.
Anyway on to real life.. i started organizing my closet tonight, this might sound like a simple task, but once you see the pictures below you'll understand why it may take a while to get the  after pics.
I am ready to get rid of stuff i just don't know what to get rid of and what to keep.

If you have any tips please share :)

Look what i did with my thrifty finds...part 2

Hey guys, i have been fixing up some things... here they are
Basket from thrift store $1

perfect next to my bath tub.

See that frame on the far right
i spray painted it the same turquoise that i painted the basket, and painted the inside with chalkboard paint.
i am waiting to get a chalkboard paint pen but i haven't found one yet.
 pyrex :)
vintage straw holder
i love the open cabinets
These are the containers i found for .50 cents each.
I am working on organizing more kitchen cabinets so i can take more doors off.
I got this very large frame at the thrift store a few weeks back.
I had some white paint laying around the house.
i distressed the edges a little bit and of course...painted it with chalkboard paint. i'm tellin ya i love the stuff!!
So there ya have it, the rest of my finds and a few before and afters. This weekend i went home to help a friend with their nursery. And a few months ago i helped another friend with her nursery and haven't posted yet, so soon i will do a large post on Nursery makeovers.
Stay tuned!

A little extra storage anyone??

Hello there, i hope you had a fabulous weekend! i went home to visit family and friends and it was wonderful. We came home Sat night so we could go to church on Sunday and play outside a little.  While i was home my friend Linds gave me this old medicine cabinet that she claimed was "collecting dust in her closet' :) love you.
We had the idea to put wine corks on it for a cork board.
and I put it in my bathroom
It fits everything so now..
my drawer is empty!!
And the hubs can fill it with all his junk.
I also made some impromptu soap dispensers for my kitchen to hold my hand and dish soap. They are adorable and look just like the ones selling in the store for lots of beans. i just happened to have everything i needed to make them. See having random stuff laying around does come in handy! :)
I'll share that with you later, i'm off to watch extreme home makeover.

Stool Makeover Numero Dos

It has been busy around here this week so i have a short post for you tonight.
Remember when i recovered this little guy from the thrift store?
I found him like this.
Well this is what happened when the hubs was cleaning out the tub with clorox..
and see that little circle in the picture below that is from the plate that he used to cover it up...
Shame shame...
So i just recovered it with this linen fabric.
and now it's back in the bathroom where it belongs, and if the clorox incident happens again it won't be as noticeable :)

Thrift Store Stool Makeover

Remember this ugly stool i found at the Thrift Store for $3?
Well i primed it and painted it.
I removed the cushion off the seat, with this crazy bed bug thing going around i decided to buy a new one.
So i was left with a piece of wood.
I bought foam at Hobby Lobby for $1.66 (with my 40% off coupon and hubs 15% discount)
Then i ironed my green fabric. Which i got from JoAnn's for $6 a yard and still have half left over! I Layed it out on my ironing board with the foam and wood seat.
I pulled the fabric as tight as possible and stapled it down.
Then I folded down the corners and stapled them.
and WahLA!!
A new stool that is perfect next to our tub!
I sanded down the edges a bit.. as usual :)

So here is the project breakdown
Stool $3
Spray paint-$3
Foam $1.66
Fabric $3
Total=$10.66

Free Project #1

Robby loves fixing up and doing maintenance around our cabin. I like DECORATING the cabin... so about a week ago i told robby i would forgo decorating so we could focus on doing somethings that needed to be done around here. I TOLD HIM I WOULD NOT SPEND ANY MONEY DECORATING THE HOUSE... for some of you that is like not buying clothes or not going out to eat or not eating chocolate....it's HARD... so i have had to get creative.

There is an empty lot near our house where they dump trash, and old wood, etc. We made our recycling station out of this wood a few months ago.

We decided to go see what they had cause we were going to frame the mirrors in our bathrooms.  Well we ended up finding this old pallet that was a cool blue color. I saw it and HAD TO HAVE IT!! So robby pulled it out of the pile while i went to get his saw. He sawed it in half and i found these two planks to go on the top and bottom so i could store things in it and use the top as a shelf.
I love the color, it matches perfectly with our green, blue and brown bed and bath.
And the old chippy wood
We hung it over our bathroom to store towels, bubble bath, soap and candles.

It's by far my favorite project we have done and it was FREE!!
If you noticed this post was named free project #1, i found a few more things to fix up at the lot and i'll post about them later!
