Jewelry Organizer Update

I know i do a lot of "updates" around here but i get new ideas or see things i like and then i want to change things... so just get used to it :)
I found these crates on the side of the road last fall and decided to turn them into jewelry holders...

Well the other day i saw this idea on Pintrest and LOVED it.
So i did this...

I love that it holds all my bracelets and now i have more room on my bottom shelf!

Another post about frames... Really?!?

Hey guys so i was moving stuff around in my house, as usual :) and when i came across this frame i almost put it in the yard/craft show pile. But then i decided to spruce it up a bit.
So I followed MG's adorable video tutorial on "how to make an embroidered tag"
I decided to do Psalm 46:10. I Love this verse and thought it was perfect for the frame.
And made some fabric flowers that i learned how to make from Cherry Street Cottage. You should check out her blog she has some great ideas!
Here is the finished project!

I think i'm still going to sell it but now it's prettier!

Now I'm off to relax with my favorite magazine,
Have a wonderful Thursday night!

Bedroom Makeover!

We got back from Colorado a few days ago, it was sooo fun!!
I did a little bedroom makeover yesterday. And i did everything for free with stuff from around the house.
Here is the before picture.
And After!
I moved all the white frames from over the dresser to over the bed. I have been wanting to move it forever but never got around to it until yesterday.
Here are the  before pictures over the dresser
The frames look so much better over the bed.

I also changed out the duvet cover with one i had from college, i got it at ikea for $15. I had the large pillow (from homegoods) in my craft room and the red pillow (Marshalls) in our living room. The brown pillows my mom gave me.
Here are a few more pics of the bedroom.

Now the dresser looks like this. That large piece of wood that is holding the frames is from the lot down the street and i have similar ones in my guest bathroom. This one is really heavy so i couldn't hang in on the wall.

So i put some felt on the bottom to protect the dresser. I just attached it with hot glue.
Now i need something to go over the dresser. I'm thinking two mirrors, a girlie one and a manly one :)
I'm thinking something like this...
for the "manly" mirror of course...

and this for the girlie one :)

I moved the jars upstairs from the kitchen window so i could make room for these babies.
I did a little planting today but i'll post on that later.

Reading Nook

So there is a corner in my bedroom that has been neglected since we moved in. I wasn't sure what to do with it. This past weekend i decided to go for it and make a reading area. I used things around the house, so i could do it for free!

I just realized i never posted about the picture hanging on the wall. I found it at the thrift store for $5
Remember the green lantern i found at the thrift store a while ago for $4.80
The ottoman used to be the seat for my vanity but i now have a wood chair that i need to paint to go there.

Not so free project #3

So this project isn't exactly FREE but it's close!! i splurged a little on the knobs cause everything else was free and the knobs match SO WELL!
Remember free project #1? Well i made this coat rack for our stairway out of that same pallet. My sweet hubs sawed, by hand may i add, half the pallet off, and the top off the pallet off. Then he cut the boards on the top and bottom to fit and hammered them on. Then he drilled the holes for my class blue and green knobs.
Here it is without the coats.
Remember the glass insulator i got at the garage sale for $2, i added it to my green and blue decor.
And all those bottles you see are from my friend Allison who spotted them in a guys trash! He had crates of old bottles that he was throwing away. So she scooped them up asked him if she could have them. He said "Sure! and i have more in my garage if you'd like those too!" You know she jumped at that opportunity then she kindly shared with me :)

and here it is in full use!
The glass knobs were $5 each. I know i usually would NEVER pay that much, especially without a coupon, but that is all i had to spend and they went so perfectly with the blue in the wood.
So the total for this project was $15!

Free Crates=New Jewelry Holder

I am posting twice in one night cause i am so excited about a new project! Remember a few weeks ago when i posted about the free crates i got from someones "trash"... well i finally decided what i was going to do with them.
My jewelry is stored in too many different places around our room/closet. I had my earrings on a frame in the closet, my necklaces on a hook in the closet, my bracelets in a jewelry box on my vanity and my rings in bowl on my vanity.... i HATE having things spread out like that. i like everything in ONE place. So i decided to make a jewelry holder out of the old crates i found.
Here are the before pics.
and after

This side holds all my earrings bracelets and watches.
And this one holds all my necklaces, and in that cute little mug, that my sister made by the way, i will post on that later, i have all my rings.
Here are all my stud earrings. My friend Linds showed me how to put them on buttons to keep them all together.
There you go my new jewelry holder! It was so easy to make and free, since i had the chicken wire and hooks from my previous jewelry holder!

Here is how we did it.
1. The Hubs drilled a few pilot holes for me to hang the hooks for the jewelry.
2. i screwed the hooks in.
3. I cut chicken wire to fit inside the shelf to hang the earrings.
4 . since we have cedar walls there are studs everywhere which makes it super easy to hang heavy things.

All you need for this project.
Crates
Hooks
Chicken wire
Screws

Free Project #2

Last night i added a new tab labeled "Project Preview" where i'll post a pic of my next post or project. Check. check. check. check it out! This was the pic i had up last night.

Here is Free Project #2
I wanted to corral all my jars that i collected at the EYS in one spot. And what better place than a shelf over our front door, don't worry we tested the shelf and made sure the jars wouldn't fall off by slamming the door numerous times.
And we found the perfect wood at this wonderful lot by our house!

Here is a before picture

After

My amazing husband doin his thang....
and again...

There you go no biggie just a shelf but now i have lots more space around the cabin to fill will pretty things :)
