Remember when it was cool to have a million cds...

As i was working on this project i realized this is my first organizing post on the blog! Crazy. Anyway i have wanted to get our cd's/dvd's organized. I thought about a three ring binder, or one of those HUGE cd cases that holds like 200 of these babies, but both options were too bulky.
So i picked up these guys at Walmart for $12. The cd holder on the left was $7 and the 100 pack of paper cd sleeves were $5.
Then, while i chilled out and watched tv tonight i put the little booklet in the front of the case and the cd in one sleeve.
I did that about 100 times and got this...
So neat and tidy
and it fits perfect next to our cd player
see it up there on the top right shelf?
The hubs loves how organized it is :)
One more time.
Before/After
I have so much more space now and for only $12 bucks!

Hello Lovelies, yes i just broke out old school Brittany. Go ahead and click here to watch the video that you know you were jammin out to in 1999. Go ahead, i'll wait.

Ok so it has been a while since my last post because it's been a little crazy around here...
I painted my craft room, this is what happened when i moved everything into the middle of the room.
The dishes are overflowing, thanks to the hubs they are not as bad as they were last night (now we can see the counter :)
And we are running low on food... if you look closely you can see that the bottom three drawers are empty. Wa. Wa.
Good thing it's almost the weekend so i can play catch up.

In other news, i received a $10 gift card from World Market, since my birthday is coming up, and they always have those buy $30 get $10 off, if your a World Market Explorer. I had the bright idea to combine my coupons, so i set out to find $30 worth of goodies.
(after coupons of course.)
Here's what i found...
All their Christmas stuff was 90% off.
Here's the breakdown (all prices with discount)
Glass Vase= $1.69
Champagne Ornaments (8)= $1.72
Large Green Ornaments (5)= $1.80
2 White knobs=$2
2 Turquoise knobs= $3.22
 2 Blue and White Knobs= $2.40
Red & Green Votives .16 cents for each pack of four!

My Total was around $15
On the bottom of my receipt it said i saved $113.43!

I am collecting knobs for this dresser that i am refinishing I am going to chang out all the knobs, keeping the drawers wood and painting the rest of her white.
Well i'm off to tend to the mess that is overtaking my home. Have a wonderful weekend!
You're still watching Brittany aren't you? Me too :)
P.S. i just remembered Melissa Joan Hart was in the video...crazy

Hobby Lobby Bargains!

A lot has been going on at the Gambrell Cabin.  We decorated for Christmas. I have many posts to do on Christmas decorating, like a pottery barn inspired advent calendar, wreath, easy ornaments, and some cheap was to decorate your home.
This is how buddy helps us decorate :)
While i was out running errands today i came across some bargains at Hobby Lobby.
I have been looking for some trees like this...

or this one

At first i thought about buying foam cones and wrapping hemp around them but the cones were a little pricey so i kept looking.

Then i found these at Hobby Lobby.
And guess how much they were... $3.50 each!! They are usually $7 but there half off this week. SCORE!
I also scored these babies...
A wreath-$2.50
Bells-$2.50
Scrapbook adhesive (for our Christmas Cards)-$3.00

I will be back soon with some Christmas ideas!

Happy as a bug in a rug...minus the bug

Since we moved in to our little cabin we have been wanting a rug to complete our living room, and provide a soft place for robby to lay down and watch t.v. There were a few things we were looking for in a rug. Not necessarily in this order.
1. comfort
2. cheap
3. large (to fill our awkward living room setup)
4. Either a stripes or solid pattern since our curtains and pillows were pretty bold.

So Sunday night we brought home this pretty little thing from Target.
It was comfortable and cheap but it was too small (5x8) and didn't match the rest of the room. Yes i had to get it in our living room to actually figure that last part out :)

So Monday i returned the Target rug and continued my search at World Market, I also had a $10 off coupon. SCORE! you know i LoVe the coupons! So when i found this little guy i knew right away it would be perfect, the only problem was it wasn't very comfortable But when it came down to this jute rug or a more comfortable one for $150 more beans, the hubs said he would forgo comfort for a better price.
This one was large 6x9, which fit perfectly, it was striped, and only $150, down from $200!
Buddy likes it too he enjoys sitting on it and starring at his toy fire hydrant.
We love the green, blue and brown stripes, and i figured if we ever decided we wanted/could afford a more comfortable rug this rug matches our master bedroom perfectly.

New Addition :)

When robby and i got married we got some super nice couches from a family friend that were originally from crate and barrel, they were pull out, which was great for guests, but they weren't long enough to lay down on and once buddy got a hold of them they were full of dog hair, and a little stained. So we have been looking for couches on and off for the past few months.
We went to Ashley furniture and Rooms to go but couldn't bring ourselves to go into debt over furniture.
You will never guess where we found these..... well if you guess the thirft store you are right! Except it's this room off of the thrift store that sells new furniture for much less than most furniture stores.

The problem we were running into was finding a couch that fit in our small living room. We did find some stuff at Ashley and Rooms to go but all thier pieces were too big. The wall across from the fireplace is little longer than 6 ft and most couches are around 8ft so we were thinking about getting a love seat for small wall, and finding two chairs to go under the stairs. Well that wasn't working because at the thirft store you have to buy the whole set of furniture you can't just buy one couch if it is in a set. So then we thought about getting a sectional to go under the small wall and window where the bench was.
So while we were looking at sectionals we found this beauty. It is a sectional but you can take out the corner chair (which we are putting in our master bedroom) and it is two separate couches that fit perfectly on the small wall and under the stairs.
Usually i like light colors but being in a cabin and all i LOVE the dark cordoroy. We love the cloth and leather combo, as robby said "it's leather where it needs to be and cloth where it needs to be."
They are SO COMFORTABLE!
And the best part was we got the whole set, 3 pieces, for $755.00
That is a lot better than the furniture stores that were selling sets for well over $1,500.

Before...

After...
The little side table in this pic below will be gettin a makeover soon, can't wait to show you!
Aren't they perfect for our Cabin?

Buddy likes them too, since they match his new doggie bed :)

Thrifting 8.19.10

This is from a few weeks ago but it has taken me a while to get it up.
Here is what i found. The jar on the left was .25cents the two glasses in the middle i thought were super cute. They were only .69 and .99 so i'm going to try to find about 6 of them, since the only glasses we have, have yellow polkda dots on them, these will be great for Christmas and thanksgiving and valentines day, all those holidays that don't have yellow in them.

I can't remember where is saw this, but there was cute idea to stack cups and cute plates on top of eachother, and glue them together,  for snacks or cupcakes at parties, so i figured i would just gradually get peices to make it.. well call it a "cup and plate tiered snack holder" So the cup on the right is my first piece it was .25 cents.

In our guest room i'm working on a "family wall"  with pictures of our families and i thought these plates would be perfect on the wall.

This one was .25 cents.

and this one was $1.48

I love the detail around the edge.

My total for today is a little less than $4.

Estate Sale Finds

I mentioned an estate sale in this post about the pyrex dish (below) that i found for $6.

Well i found a few other things at that sale too.
I found this old check file box for $2. It now holds our medicine and bandaids in the laundry room.

And this old Webster's Dictionary for $1.

And it looks perfect here right under a picture of our wonderful friends!
