Real Life Home Tour: Guest Room

Ok so here is my real life guest room tour. And when i say real life i mean it... goodwill bags, baby toys, craft projects and all....
We are expecting a guest on Thursday night so hopefully it will be more presentable by then. But here's how it looks right now.

If you follow me on instagram you know the hubs built a desk in our guest room for him right now but down the road when Z is older it will be his desk. We are still working on some paper storage and a memo board for above the desk.

The screen door with all the pics on it below used to hang over the new desk horizontally so we moved it and i still need to change all the pictures around.

There you have it our mess of a guest room! Please link up your guest room i'd love to see it and you can still link up your living room by clicking here.

My Baby is 4 Months old today!

I cannot believe it. My baby can't be 4 months old.

Sweet baby Z you is weigh 14lbs 8oz.
You are in 6 month clothes and filling them out! i think he'll be in 9 month clothes in the next couple months!
You go to bed around 8:30 or 9 and sleep til 7 on a good day but you usually get up around 5am and 7am to eat.
You smile all. the. time.
You are happiest in the morning. You get that from your daddy.
You haven't rolled over yet but i know it's coming soon!
You are amazed by the TV. This morning we watched VeggieTales.
You get the biggest smile on your face when daddy gets home from work.
You are such a laid back baby, right now you are laying on the couch in front of me looking out the window with your paci in your mouth and your owlie in your hand.
Ugh. i just can't get enough of him!!
Here are some pics from his 4 month photo shoot ;)

I am SO blessed!

Real Life Home Tour: Living Room

Ok so here is our Real Life home tour. Living Room edition. Laundry and all.
If you don't know what the Real Life Home Tour is check out this post.
I did fluff the pillows on the couch by the window. cause my perch is the big couch under the stairs that is a hot mess. i might as well look at a pretty couch if i'm here all day ;)
Check out the new record crates the hubs made me!
The space under the stairs has a lot of Z's stuff the basket trunk has all his toys and blankets.
The baskets behind the couch have his diapers, blankets, and burp cloths. (sorry it's a little blurry)
 View from the kitchen.
There ya have it the real life home tour. Nothin special but it's always fun seeing inside someones home.

O and my sweet boy slept til 10 this morning and took his first official nap today. 2 hours in his crib. I got an email from the babycenter asking "how many naps my baby needs" and "tips on how to get your baby to nap longer" so i figured we would try it out. We don't really have a schedule yet. Z just naps when he is tired wherever he is, which is usually in his car seat since we are busy bees lately. but we didn't have any plans today so i tried the scheduled naps and the tips on the email and i couldn't believe he slept so long. i don't know if we will do it everyday but on the days we stay home it's great!
I seriously can't get enough of him.

Update: ok guys thanks to my friend Katie at KatieLately i figured out how to do a link party so i'd love for you to link up your living room! The Link party will be open til the end of June so you've got plenty of time to do a little post on your living room!

Please Join Me!

I have done so many updates since posting the "cabin tour" page that i need to update. So over the next few weeks i'll do a home tour post on each room. and you can see what we've done, instead of having to post on each project.
I LOVE seeing inside peoples homes so if i can figure out how to do a link party maybe you guys could link up your space on the same day. So on the day i post pics of the living room, you post pics of your living room. And it doesn't have to be perfectly clean. this is real life my friends so lets make it as close to that as possible ;)
So if any of y'all know how to do a link party please let me know and i'll get to work on the home tour.
I'll leave you with this sweet pic of Zion checkin out his toes today!

My first Mothers Day

On Sunday i celebrated my first Mothers Day. It was perfect. I haven't really written much on here about being a mother because there is so much i don't know and it's a pretty intimidating subject if you ask me. But i can tell you that being a mother is the best and most fulfilling job i have ever had. It was one of the hardest transitions i've had to go through; starting with major surgery, lack of sleep, emotional exhaustion, CrAzY hormones, and most of all trials over what the Lord has told me is best for my son versus what the world tells me is best for him.
It is so easy to feel inadequate as a mother especially when the thief of comparison steals your joy. But i would not trade it for anything in the world. Especially when i look at him and he is looking at me like this...
or this...
or when he looks at his daddy like this...

I believe that if you seek the Lord on how he wants you to raise your children he will tell you, and sometimes he tells people different things and but neither is right or wrong they're just different.

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9

The Lord gave ME the opportunity to raise one of his children. So humbling and i pray everyday that I raise him right.
So here is my Mothers day in pictures. We started our day in the early service at church and then hit up my favorite breakfast spot, Krispy Kreme!
I told robby that when Z is older, like 2, we can play dress up as the krispy kreme man, and we can go to kk every friday and he can put on that adorable hat and carry around the kk box and we can serve each other donuts. That might just have to be a Z and Momma thing since dad looked at us like we were a little crazy ;)
Then we went to the thrift store and i got some tapes for the car. 5 for a $1. awesome.
I also got some frames, i will post a before and after later.
Then we came home and did this all. day. long...
it was perfect.

and the hubs made me dinner!(i wish i had taken a picture of that) we made this new concoction that is out of this world. you've gotta make it.
here's the recipe
you'll need

broccoli
pasta
pineapple
chicken
salt and peper
garlic
lemon juice
olive oil

first make your pasta and bake your broccoli at 350 for 12 min.

cut up your pineapple

marinate your chicken

I put our pineapple and chicken on skewers and grilled them

Then mix together some olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice (1-2 lemons) salt and pepper.

Mix in a bowl the pasta, broccoli, chicken, and pineapple and pour the olive oil mixture on top. literally the best thing we have ever put in our mouths. The first time we made it we ate the whole thing and fell asleep on the couch until midnight.

Here are a couple more pictures of Z and I

I am so blessed to have an incredible Mother and Mother in law who have been such Godly examples of what it is like to be a Mother.
Thank y'all for all the sweet Mothers Day texts and facebook messages!
