Maternity Pics-39 Weeks

So some dear friends of mine were so sweet to take some maternity pics for me. If you know me you know that i do not like taking pics by myself, i'm very awkward in front of the camera so i was hesitant to get maternity pics taken but they assured me that it would be fun and worth it, and they did SUCH A GOOD JOB!!! Laundry Room Reveal

Hey guys, we have been gradually working on our laundry room for the past few weeks. If you follow me on twitter you know that in the weeks leading up to Zion's arrival we did a lot of house projects one of which was painting the laundry room and guest room. Last weekend we finished the laundry room by putting tin on the ceiling and installing a new light. My dear friend Natalie surprised me with this light i had been wanting for the nursery. When we installed it in the nursery we realized it didn't look right and we had been planning on installing one in the laundry room anyway so it fit perfect!

The reason we decided to do the tin was because of that water stain on the right side of the photo below.

The tin was $15 a sheet and we ended up needing 3 sheets plus we had to buy $1.50 tin scissors and the light was a gift (thanks again Natalie!) so our total was around $50.

Our Love Story
I thought on this day of love i would share with you the hubs and i's love story. Since i haven't shared much of my personal life on the blog i thought this would be a good way to do so. Robby and i have been friends for a long time and our story has lots of ups and downs which is too detailed to go into so here is a cliff notes edition :)

Aug 2003-Robby and I met, we were both Wyldlife leaders-i was in my senior year of high school and he was a freshman in college

Aug 2004- I started school at KSU where Robby also attended, my first night in my new apartment and i hear a knock on my door at 2am, it's wide eyed crazy hair Robby-and our friendship begins

April 2005-Robby and I kiss for the first time on a dare, yes it felt like middle school playing truth or dare... long story...

Sept 2006-We decide to date-it lasted a month-also much longer story

May 2007-We decide to date again-this time it lasts

July 2007- Robby leaves to go on a slew of adventures while i finish up school.

September 2008- Robby returns from said adventures

November 2008-Robby proposes

June 2009-We get married

January 2012-Our precious baby boy is born

My husband is the most amazing man, everyday i feel so blessed to have him in my life. He is the best friend, husband and father i could ever ask for. Seriously I have no idea why he is so good to me. but i do know that he is the best example of Christ's love for me that i have ever seen.

In other news, today Zion is 2 weeks old. Blowing my mind!!

Here is his 2 week pic, not much different from his one week, but he does weigh 8lbs 4oz now.

He's such a cutie!

This morning at 7:50am my son turned 1 week old. i don't even know how that happened so fast. This week has flown by which makes me so nervous for the next few years!

Zion Riley was born on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

He was 6 lbs 13oz

19 and a half inches long

and perfect.

I will be back with my birth story one of these days.

Coffee Table Makeover!

Hey guys this is an old post that i did over at The Adventures of Ordy and Joon and realized I never posted it here on my blog so i'm recycling a post if you will :)

Here is the post from back in May of 2011

This weekend we spent Easter with friends and family and even had time to work on a coffee table we have had sitting in our shed for months!

Here is what we started with. The hubs found it on the side of the road and knows how much i love the sound of free :) so he picked it up for me!

Then i spray painted it with RustOleums Heirloom White.

I bought this piece of pressed wood from home depot's scrap section. Looking back i should have got a piece of plywood but at the time they didn't have any and at the time i was planning on doing a fabric top so i didn't think it mattered.

Anyway, so the hubs cut the pressed wood and put it into the coffee table.

If you have read our blog before you know there is an empty lot near our house where we find materials for a lot of our projects. You can check them out here, here and here.

This time we found 4 pallets that we could use the wood from.

So we took them apart and laid them out to make sure they covered the table.

Then we flipped the coffee table upside down and drew a line around the table.

That is how we cut out the wood planks.

Then the hubs screwed the planks into the pressed board.

and i gave it a good sanding.

And here it is!

We used to have this square table in it's place but we needed something with some round edges in the room :)

So here is the project breakdown

So the total was $5.50, that's the price of a cheap lunch!

39 Weeks

Warning- this post is very long and very wordy and contains no pictures (ok 1 picture)... read ahead if you dare.

I'm 39 weeks today. i just got back from the Dr where I scheduled my c-section for next Tuesday, January 31st. (also Justin Timberlake's birthday) that was not on purpose i was hoping for next Thursday or Friday to give Zi as much time as possible to get out of his breech position and come naturally but they were all booked Wed-Friday next week so Tuesday was the latest i could do.

Let me back up a bit and give you a summary of my pregnancy the last few weeks.

(Also the reason I haven't been blogging as much)

At 32 weeks I was up one night with horrible labor pains so i went into the Dr and I had dilated to 2cm so they gave me two steroid shots to improve Zi's lung function in case he came early and put me on bed rest for 3 days.

Then at 36 weeks my Dr told me that in the ultrasound they saw that my fluid was down to 5.1 (the week before it was at 10) they said that if it was below 5 at my next appt they would induce.-This is around the same time baby decided to go breech...

Week 37-We went in thinking if my fluid went from 10 to 5.1 in one week then it would definitely go below 5 the next week and i would be induced, but they checked my fluid and it was back to 12 which was good so they sent us home.

Week 38-They decided to do an external cephalic version (ECV) which has a 50/50 chance of moving they baby out of his breech position. If he moved they were going to induce me but if it was not successful they were going to do a c section. But since i was only at 38 weeks i asked if he didn't flip if we could just wait. He didn't flip so we waited.

Now we are at 39 weeks. I went in to my Dr appt today and scheduled my c section for next Tuesday.

This is not at all how i thought my delivery would go. i know it always happens that way but i just imagined a little differently. I would go into labor naturally, hopefully during the night so that my water wouldn't break in public. I would say, "baby i think it's time" we would get to the hospital i would go as long as i could without the epidural so that i could experience labor pains. Cause I'm that crazy person that wants to know what it feels like. Robby and i would go through the labor process together and we would have that special bonding time and then i would deliver Zion and they would put him on my chest and we would all three have that "moment."

i know, absurd... :)

For one, going to the hospital two weeks in a row thinking you are coming home with a baby and coming home without one is draining. Also, the whole scheduling thing freaks me out. Everytime the dr called to schedule the version or c section I freaked out. In a perfect world he would come on his own with no inductions or "scheduling" i know, again, absurd...

So, obviously the last thing i want is a csection. But when I got home from the dr today the Lord said, do you really trust me or do you just say and act like you trust me. He has to be pretty straight forward with me. And i realized that by stressing over this whole c section and scheduling and everything not going as planned that i was not trusting the Lord at all. I was trusting in my plan and upset when i didn't go the way i wanted. Then he reminded me that I am so blessed to be able to even carry a child and a healthy one at that and it doesn't matter how he gets here as long as he gets here.
The hubs and i have started reading through the bible as our new years resolution and one of the verses i read today was Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." - Just what i needed to hear today.

Book Wreath Tutorial

i had this book wreath started about a year ago and was impatient and didn't finish it and it has been hanging in my living room ever since. Well today was the day to finish it and i'm so glad i did! Here is the finished product.

Here is what you will need:

Wreath

Old Book

Glue Gun

Lots of glue sticks!

Start by tearing out your pages.

There are a few different ways you can fold each sheet. below is the first way.

and the third way.

When you fold it in half this is what the top looks like (below)

Then you just start hot glueing the pages to the wreath.

There is no right way to do this just start glueing it takes a long time but will be worth it in the end. So put on a good movie, or 2 and start rolling, folding and glueing.

Craft/Guest Room Reveal!

The hubs made the bed out of pallets and caster wheels. The bedspread is from Ikea i have had it since college.

Everything on the walls i got from other rooms in the house.

i got that burlap sack at a garage sale and the hubs made a pallet frame for it. There is no glass all i did was staple the sack onto the back of the frame.

There was a vent on the floor where i wanted to the trunk so i bought legs for it and lifted it off the ground i will do a "how to" post later.

Below is my crafting/scrapbooking area. on the right was my inspiration pic.

This is my sewing area. eventually i would like to make a long narrow desk with storage underneath but this works for now.

here is the breakdown of the room cost

Living Room Update

Hey guys i was looking at the Cabin Tour tab and realized i need to update my living room pics! so here are the before and afters.

I recently made the couch pillows for a total of $20 bucks. I have had the pillow inserts sitting in my closet for months so i finally decided to use them.

Kitchen Open Shelves

If you follow me on twitter you know we did a little kitchen update this weekend. and i am IN LOVE... The cabinet on the left of the stove was was breaking, the bottom shelf was falling down so we have been planning on putting up open shelves for a while.

On Saturday we headed to Lowes and picked up a 2x12x10 piece of wood and we already had the 2x4s. The total for the wood costs $8 and we had everything else for the project (screws, drill, and we borrowed a router from our neighbor) so the whole thing was only $8.

Now i just need to convince the hubs that we need to do the same to this cabinet :)

Wouldn't it look so amazing to have open shelves on both sides of the window ;)

Guest bathroom update

I recently did a little updating in the guest bathroom. The shower curtain that was in there was given to me by my grandmother, and i LOVE it (and i may end up moving it to our bathroom upstairs once we finish our shower) but i wanted something darker in the guest bath since the walls are so bright. I'm still learning how to pick out paint colors :)

My Mom and Aunt came up last week to help me get the house ready for Zion. My Mother scrubbed my shower and tub for multiple hours!! THANK YOU MOMMA! when they left i felt like a new woman with clean bathrooms, such a great feeling.

Anyway, my mom had to go pick up more cleaning supplies, i clearly do not clean enough and while she was out she picked up some towels for me, which started the whole bathroom redo. I needed them since we only had one set of towels for both bathrooms.

Mustache Shower

I'm back! life has been so crazy lately, i was put on bed rest for a hot second before Christmas, then Christmas happened then we had some wonderful guests for New Years. and i'm TIRED and feeling a little under the weather lately, but anyway i'm back with some pictures from Zion's little man shower hosted by my SIL, MIL and some wonderful friends!

34 Weeks!!

I can't believe we've made it to 34 weeks already... time flies when your pregnant. well not really. i have been out of the blogging loop lately, i was up all night about week ago with stomach pains so i went into the Dr and i was dilated 2 cm so he put me on bed rest for a few days. I had another appt today just a regular check up but on the 29th i go in for my ultrasound! i can't wait I'll be 35 weeks then and we'll find out how big Zi is.

Zion is the size of a Honeydew.

How far along? 34 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? 28lbs

Stretch marks? no

Sleep? Good, just wish i could do it more

Best moment last month? My mustache shower with friends from college :) love you girls!

Playing Catch Up

This post is gonna be all over the place i started to blog about my new chalkboard frame but then i realized how many other things i haven't shared with y'all. So here goes...

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! We had a great time with family in Atlanta. I did some midnight black Friday shopping for the first time, TOTALLY WORTH IT!

We started at Kohls, we got there at 11:52PM and the line was wrapped around the building.

5 minutes after we got there this was the line behind us. So Crazy!!

When we got there we realized how many people do this black friday thing. We thought there would be nothing left by the time we got in the store. But we got everything on our list! Kohls was so prepared and kept bringing out more stuff when they ran out. And all the employees were so helpful even though it was midnight and there were a million people running around like crazy. But it was so fun! We were in and out in an hour and a half, like i said, totally worth it!

If you follow me on twitter you know i got this chair at the thrift store a few weeks back.

Well i went to a different thrift store a few days later and saw this guy...

I loved him so much more cause i don't have to recover him. i love the green color.

So I ended up with this...

I am trying to sell the flower chair and i put the green one near our Christmas tree :)

In other news we got our car seat and pack n play for baby Z while we were home for Thanksgiving... Here's the creepster dad with the handlebar mustache displaying our new toy :)

The Craft/Guest room is coming along nicely, i sold the large green desk and bought this smaller one for $25 at the thrift store.

and "in progress" i say in progress cause i think eventually i will paint the rest of the desk the same color as the file cabinet.
The top of the desk is chalkboard paint. i love the stuff!

Well i wanted to replace it with a Christmas one, so i found this frame at the thrift store for $2

I used a little red paint i had on hand and chalkboard paint and ended up with this!

And i will end this post with this, i wanna get my hair cut like the picture below... It could just be the pregnancy talking but i just want something different.

So when i started to write this post about Zion's baby shower this past weekend i realized i haven't shown you pics of his first baby shower in early November so i will post pics of both.

The first shower was thrown by my sweet friends Lauren and Ashley.

They did an incredible job!! the food and decor was awesome here are some pics...

She is beautiful and so talented! A few weeks ago the Lord laid it on her heart to start an organization for children in Africa. Craft Room update 1

The craft/guest room is coming along great!

Just to refresh your memory here is a before pic.

I forgot to take a picture of the before picture but here is a during pic.

The hubs caulked,

sanded

and polyurethaned the cedar walls.

And last Saturday while i took a day trip to knoxville he installed new carpet and made the pallet bed.

I found a desk at the thrift store i just need to paint it. I think i'm gonna paint it rustoleums heirloom white and the top will be chalkboard paint. But i'd love to hear any other suggestions you have.

So now i am working on figuring out where to put everything on the walls.

The Pallet book nook

This is a story of using pallets to make some trendy bookshelves for our nursery. Everyone knows that reading to your kid makes them so much smarter, so teach them to recycle as well and you will set them up for life.

These shelves are super easy.

1. Take a pallet and choose the desired size of the shelves.

2. Then tear apart the pallet which usually is the hardest part.

3. Next you will need 2 inch screws, miter saw, drill bit, and cordless drill.

4. Next cut off all three pallet boards to desired size and hold flush to one another.

5. Then with poise and precession drill the predrill holes for the screws.

6. Attach all sides and screw in as shown in below.

After you are done the backside should be a little higher than the others.

Now you have a bookshelf for your kid that cost you so close to nothing and you saved some trees in the process. Remember all you do it yourselfers that these pallets could be infested with bugs so we recommend you spray all boards from pallets with bug spray but check the back of the bug spray can to see if it is safe to use inside your house.

Baby Bump week 29

I've got the bug again. i've decided to totally redecorate my craft room. I had the idea a few days ago because 1. i never spend much time in there. 2. we really could use more room for guests, and 3. i don't spend much time in there. i know i said it twice, but there is nothing i hate more than unused things and spaces, i have a permanent purge box in my home and am constantly reorganizing and trying to simplify our lives.

Anyway, here is my plan, the craft room will now be a guest room/craft room. I have so much stuff in my craft room i am on the verge of hoarding so i am pairing down and getting rid of everything i don't use, even if i THINK i'll use it one day.

So i am selling my dear hutch that i have been fixing up.

and the green desk, i LOVE it but it's too big for the space. There are a few other things around the house i'm selling and i'm using that money and ONLY that money to redecorate, if my calculations are right i can do the room for around $200 without the flooring.

Here's the plan..

full size bed on a pallet frame with caster wheels.

here is the fabric i will use for pillows and maybe some other little things around the room.

I'm gonna use this orange bedding.

I will have a craft corner inspired by the picture below.

I already have the filing cabinet i just need to find a desk that is 40'' long or shorter.

I want to paint the bottom plum purple and the top of the desk in chalkboard paint.

And we will be using a lot of pallets; for the bed, some rolling crates and a bookshelf.

The carpet in the craft room NEEDS to be replaced i would love to do hardwoods but if it is too expensive we will do a carpet remnant.

I am sooo excited to get this project started! Now i just have to wait for people to buy my stuff so i can get this show on the road!!!

And of course, i will keep you updated :)

P.S. the hubs and i have done a few more things in the nursery so i will post on those soon too.

$5 crib pendant tutorial

While searching the web i came across this picture of this adorable nursery. I loved the yarn pendant.

So i decided to make my own version. I couldn't find a tutorial so i just guessed and here is what i came up with.

You will need:

Foam balls-i got mine at Joanns they were $5 for 12. i had a half off coupon so i got 24 for $5

Scissors

Yarn-i used a total of 15 balls and 5 colors of yarn

Hot glue gun

Very large crochet needle

hemp- you can use any string you want but i already had hemp and it ended up working perfect cause it was thick enough to hold the yarn balls in place.

Wrap the yarn around the foam pieces until you can't see anymore white foam.

do this with each ball

this is that large needle i was talking about, it's HUGE

string the hemp through the needle but you don't need to knot it you can just pull it through about an inch and it shouldn't move at least mine didn't cause the hemp was so thick. (i used the medium size hemp)

I lined them up and decided what order i wanted the colors in.

Then i pulled the (hemp strung) needle through each ball.

Cut your hemp, leave a bit extra so you can tie it to whatever you are hanging it on.

Simple as that!

I hope that tutorial made sense, if it didn't blame it on the pregnancy and just ask me questions :)

Wedding Weekend in Blairsville

Last weekend we went to Blairsville for a wedding. My parents rented a cabin for the weekend, it was the perfect time for a wedding/cabin weekend, all the leaves were changing! Here are some pics from where we stayed.

On a Sunday afternoon…

For a few weeks I have been wanting to paint the large wall in our kitchen in chalkboard paint. Thanks to pintrest and all these inspiration pics..

So on a Sunday a few weeks ago I had this conversation with the hubs while he was shootin hoops in the driveway…

Me-hey baby so I have this idea…

Hubs-yeah?

Me-well I was thinking it would be really cool to paint our big kitchen wall in black chalkboard paint. We could write verses and things we need to pray for on it, and Zi can color on the bottom half…

Hubs-are you serious, (which is what I expected because I am always changing things which is usually fine except for when painting is involved…)

Me-well yeah I just think it would look so cool and….

Hubs-I’m just kidding I think that’d be awesome and I love black I think it’s my new favorite color!

Me-seriously??

Hubs-yeah let’s do it.

Me-like right now?

Hubs-yeah

Me-So I can go get stuff right now and we can do it today?

Hubs-yeah go get it.

So that’s how we I decided to paint the kitchen wall one Sunday afternoon. It only took us two coats of chalkboard paint and a couple hours. I bought two quarts of chalkboard paint but we only needed one because I had a little bit left over from some projects but it was clumpy so we just used it for the trim.

It cost us $20 to do the whole wall, here is what we bought

2 quarts of black chalkboard paint (we only used one so we returned the extra)

Blue tape to tape off the trim

Paint brush

I got this "chalk holder" at hobby lobby for $2.50 it's a dresser pull.

I saw the “I want to have adventures with you” on pintrest and LOVED it, we were going to incorporate it into the nursery at first but it went so perfectly on the chalkboard wall that we just did it there.

The frames I had from thrift shopping and the owl is a hot pad I got for .50 cents a while back also from the thrift store. I had debated spray painting him but I’m so glad I didn’t cause he goes so well with the brassy/gold frames!

I got the old yard stick at a yard sale a few weeks ago for .50 cents. We cut it and put it on the wall to measure Zion as he grows. But once he gets taller than the yard stick we’ll have to think of something else

So what do you think? do you like the black or did you like the blue better?

We LOVE it and can't wait for zi to be able to color all over it :)

Master Bathroom Updated

A few months back I found a set of 4 identical frames at the thrift store for $1.50 each. They were gold, until I painted them oil rubbed bronze, to match the chandelier of course.

So when we got back from Montana I printed four 8x10’s from Walgreens. I had 40% off so the total came to around $8 I think, can’t really remember.

Now they hang in our master bathroom. And the total project only costs $14.

I bought these frames from Joon.

I found this lamp for $4.88

The shade that came with it wasn't quite right so i am searching for a new one. I want a 16''-18'' drum shade but i've looked at world market, homegoods, ross, walmart and tjmaxx and haven't found anything.

If you know of anywhere else i could look please let me know!

And i got this guy for only $1.50!

I can't wait to show you the finished products!!

Bedroom Update-new spread!

Hey guys, a few weeks ago i got a new bed spread so i thought i'd share some pics with you of our master bedroom cause i've updated a few things since i last shared it.

I got the bedspread at Kohls. I opened a Kohls card when i bought it so i got 20% off. I got the bedspread and both shams for around $50. The last time i bought new bedding was over two years ago before we got married and i got that one on clearance at target for $27. so it was about time i did a little updating. and the best news is, the hubs LOVES it!

What do you think of the bedroom and new bedding??

Baby Update Week 24/Baby Name

Babe is the size of a Papaya!

How far along? 24 weeks (our 24 week appt was today)

Total weight gain/loss? 17 lbs?!?! holy cow i couldn't believe it when i saw it! i guess i need to get on the treadmill!

Stretch marks? no

Sleep? better than it has been, my back started really hurting around 16 weeks but maybe i have just gotten used to it cause it's not as bad lately.

Best moment last month? feeling him kick :) it's the craziest feeling, it kinda makes me feel a little nauseous. it's like he's tickling me from the inside.

Movement? see last question :)

Maternity clothes? i mostly wear dresses, skirts leggings and a few maternity tops and my maternity jeans.

Food cravings? i haven't had many cravings

Gender? Boy

What I miss: not having to pee every 15 minutes...

We have also decided on a name. Well we have had the name picked out for a while. We had two girl names and one boy name picked out so it was pretty easy :)

Thrifty Finds 10.1.11

Hey guys, sorry i have been MIA lately if you follow me on twitter you know that the hubs and i have been chillin out in Montana for the past week! It was amazing and i'll be back with pics soon but for now i have a few garage sale finds i picked up before we left town last weekend.

I got these vinyls for .25 cents each. i walked out with 10 total!

This chair was only $3 and the ruler was .50 cents.

The oar was .25 cents i'm gonna repaint it and hang it in the nursery.

basket= $1

I am going to replace this box (below, $12.99 TJMaxx) with the $1 basket for diapers and wipes and other baby butt necessities.

I also plan to make a liner out of the fabric i picked for the nursery. My mother in law is making the bedding and i am so blessed to have such a talented woman in my life! I can't wait to show you pics.

While in Montana we picked up this cute little black bear. I'm not a big stuffed animal fan so my plan is to give him only this one and hope he latches on :)

The chair was perfect for my vanity area.

The wicker matches the bottom of the table.

So what if the only thing i make lately is soup...I have turned into my mother.

So what if i had another breakdown this weekend and tried on my pre-preggo jeans thinking they might fit... even my one size too big jeans wouldn't fit... then i cried, so lame, i know

So what if i whipped out the NSYNC Christmas CD this week and blared it with the windows down. people stared but i didn't care.

So what if i can't make decisions. i stood in front of the goldfish at target the other day for possibly 3 minutes trying to decide between flavor blasted goldfish or regular. i went with flavor blasted

So what if i have a constant need to get rid of things... i feel overwhelmed when i open a closet or drawer that is cluttered with stuff we never use. i have a perpetual goodwill box in my home and when i go shop i drop it off... a little ironic, don't ya think...

So what if i've already put my Christmas decorations up... just kidding :)

Another to do..

Clean/Pretty Up the porches.

I don't have before pics but i have some lovely after pics of our porch clean up.

I made the chalkboard on the right. It says, "Give Thanks to the Lord"

I have been loving burnt orange ever since i added it to the nursery so it is gradually making it's way through the rest of the house :)

This is on the back porch.

I moved the directors chairs from our upstairs porch, downstairs and put new fabric on them.

The bottom of the table is a seat we had on the front porch and the top is a table top i got from a friend. It has been sitting on my porch leaned up against the wall for months while i searched for a table bottom to find it on our porch the whole time!

I was asking the hubs how we could make a bottom and i showed him how i had tried to make a bottom out of the same chair, (that is shown in the picture below) but it wasn't working the way i had it and the hubs said, "it'll work if we turn it upside down." (pictured below) and WA LA! he's.a.genius.

I am sooo ready for fall! the last few days we have been relaxing with the windows open and our mulled cider candle burning. I've already decorated for the season. and I'm working on a few more diy projects that I'll hopefully blog about soon. But this pumpkin muffin recipe is the icing on the cake when it comes to fall! it's delicious AND the easiest recipe you've ever seen!

Here goes...

Last year my friend gave me the recipe for these AMAZING pumpkins muffins and i have been making them ever since!

They are the easiest.muffins.ever.

you will be making them for every event you go to i promise :)

This is what you'll need

1 box of spice cake

1 can of pumpkin

1 bag of chocolate chips (i like the mini's the best)

That's it!!

Mix everything up with an electric mixer, and it will look like this.

(do NOT mix anything, like eggs or oil, into the cake mix just add it by itself.)

i like to make them into mini muffins cause they cook perfectly, sometimes the large muffins don't get cooked all the way through.

I have made reg size muffins, cookies and mini muffins and the mini's are my favorite.

Bake at 350 F for 15 min and you're done!

So delicious and they will make your house smell like fall. ahhhh

Baby Update Week 20

So I'm not sure where the time went but i was checking the bump.com to see how big our little guy was and that crazy site says he is the size of a cantaloupe!

WHAT???

Please tell me how that is possible? i mean i know he is eventually gonna be a watermelon but i can't believe I'm halfway through this thing?

I have been so bad about taking bump pics (besides the sideways ones in the mirror.) I keep meaning to but always forget, so hopefully I'll get to that this week.

We went to the Dr this week and i was informed that i have an anterior placenta. Which is when your placenta is on the front wall or your uterus. sorry if that's tmi. My Dr says it's like baby G is kicking a pillow and I'm on the other side of it. That's why i haven't felt it yet. So hopefully i will feel it in the next few weeks.

Nursery Update!

I found this lantern/lamp at the Endless Yardsale for $3. HOLLA!

I decided to hang it in the nursery because we are working on changing the lighting in there. Right now there is track lighting on one of the beams and i'm NOT a fan.

So this lantern was the first step to replacing the track lighting.

And it makes the coolest pattern on the wall when the other lights are off.

The hubs also finished out the trim on the dry wall. I'm still trying to figure out what to do on this wall, i'm thinking a large wall map but still not 100% sure.

I Love the nursery! We are almost finished and i'll be back with before and after pics when we're done!

Sock-et to me

This might be my favorite project i've ever done!

I found this chandelier at the thrift store for $7 (well it was really $10 but i talked them down to $7 :)

I have been wanting one for our bathroom to replace the ugly track lighting that was there. (that i forgot to take a pic of...)

I removed the bulbs and white plastic wire covers and covered the wires with newspaper. (this is an after pic cause i forgot to take before pics.)

I didn't want to spray paint the cord, because it makes it all sticky so i my sweet husband sewed a cover for it.

Well i started and had it almost done and realized my lower bobbin wasn't threaded so i stormed off to do something else and came back and the hubs had finished it. i love him.

and there ya have it!

it was really hard to get a good picture of it with the lighting and all.

You will not believe how much this project cost me!

Happy Monday! One of the things on our to do list this weekend was to replace the cabinet in our laundry room with shelves. I have been wanting to do this forever because i've grown out of the cabinets and there has been stuff covering the counter for months. The first few pics are from when we first moved in.

It never looked this clean except for the first few months we lived here.

Here's the most recent pic but i didn't get a good one of the counter. But you can see from the bottom of the pic that it was a mess.

So we took the cabinet down.

I spackled and repainted the walls.

Brother and sister came over and helped us, well they weren't just here to help but they were so kind to lend a hand :)

The top of the rope is eye bolted into the wall and the rope is knotted at the bottom of each board.

And DONE!

I love it! i have so much more space and i love the look of the rope and raw wood.

I'm thinking about putting a curtain under the counter to hide the washer and dryer.

I cannot believe it has been 10 years.

I was a sophomore in high school sitting at my desk in English class. Watching the news and feeling so helpless.

I will never forget where i was and what i saw that Tuesday, the ash, the people jumping out of buildings, and the planes.

But in all that tragedy Christ reigned that day and he still does today.

My prayers goes out to everyone who lost a loved, is still loosing loved ones, every person who is still dealing with the aftermath of 9/11, and for the heroic men and women who saved so many lives.

I'm not sure if i mentioned it in this post or not, but i got this old screen door at the Endless Yard Sale this year for $10. I took the screen out and stapled chicken wire to the back of it and put all the family pictures from the family wall frames in the guest room.

So what if i already decorated for Fall and it's not even September.

So what if i read a list of 8 things you can't do after you have a baby and the only one i was sad about was, "Zone out to a Real Housewives marathon."

So what if i wear the same tank top in a different color ALMOST everyday...

So what if i pee every.time. i sneeze.

So what if i have only cooked 4 dinners since i've been pregnant. ( :/ sorry hubs )

Nursery Progress

Remember how we decided to do a National Park themed nursery? Well not really themed but our trip to Utah to visit a few parks was our Inspiration. This weekend we had a little bit of time to work on the nursery and this is what we got done...

We still need to trim out the drywall.

The rocker will go in the corner under the shelves.

I have picked out the fabric for the crib bedding and my wonderful mother in law has offered to make it! i am so excited to show y'all the fabric i picked. The main fabric is inspired by this chair i fell in love with but can't afford...

Well we have some VERY exciting news to share.. you have probably guessed it by now. We are for SURE having a BOY! At my 12 week appt they showed us this picture of what they thought was a tiny penis.

and when we went back this week (16) they showed us this...

She outlined it, just in case we couldn't see it :)

Mirror Mirror on the wall

Remember when i shared with you my idea for the mirror wall? Then I collected some mirrors and asked for your advice on what color(s) to paint them

Well i finally got around to painting/hanging the mirrors, most people said to paint them black except for the gold and black ones, so that's what i did...

Now i was planning to put the octagon mirror under the large oval mirror, but see those ugly wall outlets, i just had to cover them up and the octagon mirror covered them perfectly.

now i just need to find two more small mirrors to go under the large oval mirror.

I'm not thrilled with it but maybe once i'm finished it will grow on me :)

Just a little Pantry Organization

I was getting my daily dose of I Heart Organizing today when i saw Jen's post on her kitchen cabinets specifically the pics of her pantry. She inspired me to organize my pantry, a task that was LONG overdue. So here are some of the before pics.

Endless Yard Sale 2011

Endless Yardsale year 2! My friend Natalie and i headed out for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday. We didn't take any pictures while we were out, it was so hot we didn't carry our cameras but here's what i found.

Thrifty Finds 8.1.11

So it has been a loooong time since i've been thrifting... we are saving our monies around here for Baby G so i've been holding back...this is way harder than i am making it sound :)

Anyway last weekend i went to a thirft store called Providence in Fort Oglethorpe. This thrift store is awesome because you can haggle!

Here is what i walked away with!

I found this adorable rocking chair for the nursery for $5!

I love the distressed chippy look but i may need to put a clear coat on it to keep it safe for Baby G. Anyone know anything about that??

I got this utensil holder for $4 a little high but i asked them to come down on a couple other things and didn't want to push my luck :)

i have the same one in brown but thought this would be a fun pop of color for a while. And i think i'll use the brown one as a candle holder.

and my FAVORITE purchase. This lovely Chandelier. Now at first i was thinking for the closet but it's a little big so i think we're gonna put it in the bathroom.

It was marked $10 but i asked them if they could take $7 and they said yes!

We are gonna paint the walls in the bathroom blue or maybe green so what color do you think i should paint it??I was thinking something bold but i also thought maybe grey, or oil rubbed bronze.. so many options!

Lemme know what color you think i should paint the chandelier, and if you know of any clear protective coat i should put on the rocking chair!

I have a black thumb...

So i've posted a little bit about gardening on this little blog but not much cause i'm really no good at it. Last fall i planted these mums which were beautiful for a few weeks...

ahhh aren't they lovely makes me so excited about fall!

Then this happened...

Then i tried planting these pretty little things early spring but those lasted a few weeks as well...

and recently i planted these guys. Remember this pretty picture...all pretty and alive.

Well now they look like this...

The ONLY thing that i have managed to keep alive are these chicken and hens (i think that's what they're called, in the last picture) that my friend gave me.

I would love to have a green thumb but i just don't think that's gonna happen. So i need some ideas for plants that are hard to kill. i think these succulent things are the way to go but again i don't know much about this gardening thing, this is where i need your help, LOTS OF IT!!

and if you don't know much about it take time to ask someone you know that does. Tell them you have a dear friend who really wants to be good with plants but needs to start small.

I have some hanging plants that are empty now and i thought about getting ferns to put in their place cause i hear those are pretty hard to kill. i think if i just had a few things to water in the mornings i could handle it but not a bazillion plants.

I'm even open to fake plants, but they've gotta look as real as possible.

So please be kind and give me some flower advice, tell me what you like to plant and what you don't like to plant, i'd really appreciate it!!

Baby Room Inspiration...

This week our little guy is the size of a lemon!

And last time we went to the Dr. they saw this...

Which we are pretty sure is a tiny penis!

SO if our little lemon turns out to be a HE, which we will confirm mid August, then here is the inspiration for the nursery!

The Hubs and i took a trip to Utah on our way home from living in Co back in 2009/2010.

That is where i started with the nursery idea, here are some pics we took.

So there you have it i'm really loving orange, tan, brown, light blue, and possibly a little green. It sounds kinda crazy now but you'll see it will eventually all come together good thing i've got 6 months to work on it!

What i can do with a little bit of energy

I haven't made a final decision on the mirrors yet, I'm leaning toward keeping the octagon and oval mirrors and leave a couple gold and paint the rest black. Maybe I'll get around to that this week or in a few months, who knows... But i did have a burst of energy this weekend and did a few makeovers.
Warning... this post is gonna be all over the place, i hope you can follow along :/
I had some energy this weekend so i starting working on all those little projects that have stacked up and i swore i would get to later, well this weekend was later.
Remember the trunk my dad found on the side of the road for me that i painted in this post.

Here is what the trunk looked like when my dad found it...

then i painted it this army green color and threw my scrapbook stuff inside.

Well i fixed it up, reorganized my scrapbooking stuff and now it looks like this...

First i spray painted it in Rustoleums Heirloom White.

Then i added some contact paper i had, originally from Target.

I also went a little crazy with Mod Podge and covered a hanging file box that i had, to put all my paper in one place.

I also put all my scrapbooking stickers and embelishments in this makeup bag i got a the thrift store for .50 cents.

I Mod Podged this old coffee can to put scrapbooking tools in.

I was really bad about getting before pictures this weekend please forgive me.

My sweet friend at work gave me this old light fixture that i turned into a tray.

the bottom was glass and it had a hole in the middle (used to be for the light.)

So i used Mod Podge and some scrapbook paper onto the front of the glass and hot glued the glass to the wood on the back to hold everything in place.

This old mail holder used to be wood with gold etching in it, and i brilliantly decided to spray paint it white, well it made the gold etching all weird looking so i added some Mod Podge and scrapbook paper to it and now it looks like this...

And the last thing i modge podged, not even sure if that's a word, was this sign,

I hung it up in our kitchen and tried to get a good picture but there is no light in this part of the room so it was a little bit of a challenge.

I also made a few new things for the shop this weekend these are jewelry/memo holders.

and i made these chalkboards,

Sadly this is the most crafting/decorating i've done in months. This growing a baby thing wears you out! I'm starting my 14th week so i'm hoping i start getting some energy back in a few weeks.

The dry wall and crib are up in the nursery so i've got a clean slate right now :) hopefully i can get working on that soon!
